How To Play Caribbean Poker
Play in Caribbean Poker begins with you making an ante bet. You are also given the option to make a $1 progressive jackpot bet that you will win a portion of if you make a flush or better. You then receive five cards face down and the dealer receives four face down cards and one up card. You must then decide whether to fold your hand and forfeit your ante bet or to raise double the ante bet and continue in the hand. If you decide to raise the dealer turns over his four face down cards and sees if he qualifies to play the hand. The dealer must have at least an ace-king high to qualify for the hand. If the dealer doesn’t qualify you win your ante bet and the raise bet is pushed. If the dealer does qualify then he compares his poker hand to yours. If the dealer has the best hand then you lose both your ante bet and your raise bet. If you have the best hand then you win 1 to 1 on your ante bet and the raise bet pays out based on the following pay table:
Royal Flush – 100 to 1
Straight Flush – 50 to 1
Four of a Kind – 20 to 1
Full House – 7 to 1
Flush – 5 to 1
Straight – 4 to 1
Three of a Kind – 3 to 1
Two Pair – 2 to 1
Pair and below – 1 to 1
If you also made the $1 progressive jackpot bet then you win an extra amount if you had a flush or better. Usually a flush to a full house will win you a set dollar amount, while a straight flush or a royal flush will win you a percentage of the jackpot.
Caribbean Poker Strategy
Caribbean Poker optimal strategy is very difficult to grasp, but there are a few basic rules that you should follow to give yourself the best chance to win. These rules don’t achieve the optimal return on your investment, but they bring you very close.
Always raise when you have a pair or better.
Always fold when you have less than ace-king high.
By following these two simple rules you can reduce the element of risk in Caribbean Poker to only 2.67%
